Nash Elementary School strives for 'Excellence Through Perseverance' to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students, including diverse learners and their learning needs, by implementing research-based instruction on various "Learning Modalities."

Our Namesake
On August 19, 1821, Henry H. Nash was born the son of a farmer in Benson, Vermont. On September 6, 1849. He married Miss Lydia, a daughter of Mr. Flores Meacham of Whitehall, New York. Determined to move west, Nash relocated his family to Chicago, Illinois, in 1857.
His first Job in Chicago was with the Illinois Central Railroad Company, where he established a reputation as a careful and reliable man. In 1864 he accepted the position of cashier at the recently founded United States Sub-treasury. Eventually, Nash resigned from his post at the Sub-treasury to accept the National Bank of Illinois cashier ship, a position he held for eight years.
In 1882 Nash and his business associates founded the Chicago National Bank. He served as cashier of this institution for five years, when he was chosen vice president - an office he held until the time of his death. During his engagement with the bank, he was president of Chicago's Clearinghouse for two terms, an active member of the Chicago Historical Society, and was a member of the Sons of the Revolution, Union League and Illinois Club.
Mr. Nash was regarded as one of the shrewdest and safest financiers, his word was as good as gold, he was also a man of retiring disposition, kind-hearted and charitable. He took the keenest interest in all that related to Chicago. Henry
H. Nash was regarded as an honorable and successful businessman by Chicago society for his energy, enterprise, and strict adherence to correct business principles until his death in November of 1892.
